Why use chemicals on your face?

follow COVID-19 safety rules

Nature has it all...

For centuries, people in India have pampered their skin with ingredients found in nature.
In today's modern world, we are drifting away from our centuries old traditions of using natural ingredients in our skin care. We are drifting towards chemical products for skin care. Our ancestors used natural ingredients which were sourced from plants, herbs, trees barks, flowers, buds etc. for their skin care. With the revolution in cosmetic products and arrival of new brands claiming fairness, removal of dark spots, anti-aging, we gave up our very own traditional & natural ways of treating our skin with the goodness of herbs and home made facial mask.
Fast moving lifestyle & lack of time has also drifted us away from home made skin care recipes.

Excessive use of chemicals can damage skin & make it venerable to certain skin diseases like allergies. Whatever we eat and apply on our face goes into our blood stream. Therefore, we need to avoid chemicals in our skin care. Safe skin care products are better.

There are vast number of herbs and ingredients available in Indian kitchens which can be of great use to clear skin of dark spots, pigmentation, dull skin, acnes. They give long lasting effects on skin but you need to be patient, since they take long time to show visible effects on face  but are safe for skin.

Here are some natural ingredients good for face care.

Fruits & vegetables
Eating healthy food, vegetables, fruits makes skin glow.

Applying fruit pulp like papaya pulp, meshed banana, cucumber makes the skin glow.

When you eat them just take a piece & apply on face. Wash after 10 minutes.

Mulethi (licorice)
It is a natural skin lightening agent.

1. Take required quantity.

2. Mix with rose water or milk.

3. Apply 10-15 minutes, wash & pat      dry
I use old tree mulethi powder.  You can buy it online.

Wild turmeric
Wild turmeric have been used as a skin lightening agent in India for centuries.
Most ayurvedic face packs contain wild turmeric as dark spots or skin lightening agent.
A pure wild turmeric smells like camphor.

Rose water is a good skin moisturizer, it balances skin's PH.
Always buy a chemical and preservatives free rose water.
Rose water is effective on acnes and dry skin. It has anti inflammatory properties too and even tonesthe skin.

I use Pahada rose water, it is chemical free & made from damask roses cultivated at the height of 7000ft. in Joshimath, Uttrakhand as is mentioned on it's label.

How to use?

1. Just dab cotton in rose water.

2. Apply on clean face.

3. Or use with all face packs.

Rose petal powder
Rose petal powder tones skin, it has antioxidants which are good for skin.

A simple rose petal powder recipe for face:

1. Take required quantity of rose petal powder.

2.  Mix raw milk.

3.  Add rose water.

4.  Apply for 10-15 minutes

5.  Wash with lukewarm water & pat dry.

You can make rose petal powder at home.
Pluck roses from your garden when they wither.

Sun dry rose petals.

Grind dried rose petals in mixie.

Refrigerate grounded powder.

You can buy online or from market, make sure it's pure.

I use 'Nature's tattva' rose petal powder.

Besan
Ingredient available in Indian kitchens.

A besan recipe for face (excellent recipe for winters)

1.  Take required quantity of besan.

2.  Add a pinch of turmeric.

3.  Add rose water.

4.  Add milk

5.  Make paste.

6.  Apply for 10 minutes.

7.  Wash with lukewarm water in winters.

8.   Pat dry, apply moisturizer.

Almond & raw milk

Almonds and raw milk both combined together make extremely good skin cleanser, moisturizer, works on for dark spots too. Almonds contain vitamin E and milk contains lactic acid.

As a winter skin recipe, if you live in north India like me almond and raw milk (unadulterated) are best.

1.   Take one almond

2.   Rub it on grinding stone with
      little bit milk.

3.   Apply on face.

4.   When slightly wet rub in circular motion & wash.

5.   Pat dry

6.   Apply moisturizer if required.

Try these nature's gift on your skin this winter. Let skin breathe pure nature.

All the skin care recipes mentioned above are the ones I use in winters. Always be careful before applying anything on your skin what suit other people skin may not suit your skin, so be careful.  Do a patch test before using anything on your skin and face.

Rose water is a natural skin toner. In India we have been using it as a part of our skincare regime for centuries. Rose has antioxidants and anti inflammatory properties.  Before I begin, I list some of rose water uses: ● reduce dark spots,  ● even tones the skin,  ● acts on acnes ● It balances skin's PH.  Photo : Anju  Urban botanics rose water comes in a spray bottle. I will not talk of it's packaging because I don't consider packaging as an important part of the review. I consider product's effectiveness matters the most.
