Why can't India shed it's obsession of voting netas belonging to their castes during elections ? Come elections, caste game begins....
India cast vote for caste
As elections approach all of us become caste obsessed.
Believe me, our news channels and we ourselves become more caste obsessed than the netas. I think we Indians are the only ones who vote for caste rather than development of our country, but some of us do vote for development.
India has progressed but not at a pace that we really are capable of, thanks to caste based vote bank politics, politician's caste become more important to us than voting for right politician who may develop India better. This is one of the reasons why many people didn't have excess to toilets even after 70 years of our Independence, this should have been done in 70's itself but we had to wait for 2014 when PM Modi started it all.
We complain a lot, "desh mein ye nahi hai, woh nahi hai" but did we ever think who's responsible for it.
The answer is - 'We The People Of India' along with our castetist mindset because for most of us caste is more important than development. We are so blinded by our castes that we marry in same caste. Ok fine, but our obsession for caste is so much that it has entered politics. Instead of deserving candidate, we want to vote neta of our caste. We won't think for a while who can work better for us, who'll work honestly, and responsibly serve people, parliament, and India better. We only see whether he belongs to our caste, if he does than its fine. He may not work even for his caste after being elected, but his community will decide let's vote for him, he's OUR men and this would be conveyed to all voters belonging to his caste in his constituency.
It's not as if all people have the same opinion there are people who do vote for only development, better facilities, job opportunities, better infrastructure etc.
Again, it seems news channels are no.1 in promoting voting on caste lines & not on development. Why I say this?
Here's the reason, look at the surveys they do on how the people are going to vote in 2019. They do caste based surveys. Which caste will vote whom? And how surnames of netas will attract voters of his caste in certain constituencies. The news channels surveys will show how the obc's, yadavs, dalits, rajputs, jats, bania's, brahmins will vote. Their surveys include which caste's vote will swing towards which party. The news anchors will roll their eyes, smile with enthusiasm as if elections are all about caste and not development. They will speak over others and so will their guests in t.v. studios and will discuss which party has maximum number of a particular caste netas & how will they bring their caste's voters in their favour.
Some of famous t.v. journalists & news anchors who talk of, how regressive is the Indian society on certain issues like entry of women in sabrimala temple. They forget, how regressive these journalists look when they keep on discussing which caste will vote for which party. The caste based vote bank narrative actually starts from t.v. studios.
More than our netas our news channels are obessed with caste based vote bank politics. Yes, Indian society is caste based society from time immemorial but now India is in 21st. century. We should be proud of our caste but voting on basis of caste is wrong.
We need to change this.
We choose a Lok Sabha M.P. on basis of his affiliation to our caste than we'll go on complaining, he did nothing for 5yrs.We forget we did not vote for him, we actally voted for our caste and castes do not make policies in parliament, it is the politicians who make policies in the parliament. we look into politician's caste, if our caste is same as his, we are more than happy and for the next five years we are unhappy while the neta is extremely happy. Who's to be blamed. Of course, the voter.
India's development should be our utmost priority.
We are the one who can make netas more responsible.
If we take our country's development seriously and cast our vote for deserving man or a woman, the politician will also take voters seriously.
If we stop voting on the basis of caste, so will our netas stop caste based vote bank politics.
